Preface:
The collection under consideration is not a compiled book in the general sense. It is a collection of different and diverse articles. These articles have been published in the monthly Al-Risala. Here they have been collected in the form of a book. The common aspect of these articles is that they belong to different periods of Muslim history and in each case there is some advice that makes it general.
There can be many ways of studying history. For example, to satisfy the feeling of pride or to see it as information from the past. In the book under consideration, an attempt has been made to study history instead for lessons and advice. For this purpose, reading history is very important. And if the right impression is taken from it, it is the most effective means of building life.
Unfortunately, our Madan history is not written on this approach. In ancient times, history was mostly written as a story of wars and conquests. This style spread all over the world. Of all the books written on the subject of history in ancient times, almost all of them were Badsha Nama or Jang Nama. This prevailing style also entered the Muslim world unconsciously.
Thousands of books have been written on the history of Islam for a thousand years after the emergence of Islam, but most of them are in the form of Muslim conquests or Islamic war chronicles. The first person who realized this deficiency in Islamic history was Abd al-Rahman ibn Khaldun (732-5808). He laid down the principles of historiography in a new style that would The famous book can be seen in the case. He tried to compile history on these principles, but he could not succeed in it either.
This deficiency made the history of Islam seem to be a history of wars and conquests. Because of this, many people got the opportunity to say that Islam is a secular religion. Although the real truth is the opposite. The history of Islam, in a broader sense, is the history of human life. But in practice it became a history of oppression. Islam influenced millions of people in its fourteen hundred year history. It caused a revolution in every field of life. Such a universal revolution in human life cannot come about only by the sword.
The aspect of Islamic history that historians are usually most impressed with is the extremely rapid geographical expansion of Islam, which is an exceptional nature. But it is strange that neither the friends nor the enemies of Islam could learn the right lesson from this event. The followers of Islam have mostly taken pride in this event in Islamic history. On the contrary, the opponents of Islam concluded from this incident that the real strength of Islam is its sword and not its ideology.
The book under consideration seems to be an attempt to study the history of Islam from the right angle. In this sense, it would perhaps be correct to say that it is a step towards correcting the wrong way of studying. Even though it is limited and unorganized.
